Episode 66 - Jon Snell

On this weeks show we chat to our friend Jon Snell. Jon, or Snelly, is a Cairns based guide who operates under the name Jon Snell Fishing Charters.
Snelly joins us to chat about a fish that is his favourite fish to catch and to put punters onto, that is the saltwater Barramundi. Snelly takes us through a variety of situations that he likes to find Barra in his local area, the flies he uses in addition to the gear. This episode is almost a saltwater Barra "how to" by a living legend who is well known for consistency, ABBA and all-round getting the job done in all forms of fishing.
Also on this show.... well I should say almost on this show, I have to explain why we lost the intro, and we also have another action packed rod over the shoulder review as we keep it very real for another week.

Episode 65 - Doug Phillips ( Tonic Eyewear)

On this episode we are excited to chat to the creator of what many believe to be is the pinnacle of fishing sunglasses. Doug Philips is the owner of Tonic Eyewear and he joins us on this episode to chat to us about everything that goes into making and developing one of the most essential tools we as flyfisherpeople need past rods/reels/flies. On this episode, you will learn about the difference between the different coatings, and also different light transmission levels and how to select a lens that suits you and your fishing... or to look cool hanging out at the pub. If you are interested in getting more from your pair of sunglasses, this is not one to miss.
In addition, we chat about Solunar calendars and how you can better understand them. Its an issue that polarises many people, you tend to either believe in them or not, either way, we shine a light on how they come about and what they mean.

Episode 64 - On this episode, we head back over the the land of the long white cloud and chat to Matt Von Sturmer from Salt Fly Fish. Matt operates out of Waiheke Island which is east of Auckland New Zealand and is a dedicated saltwater flyfishing guide. To say Matt is generous and passionate about the sport is an understatement, as Matt is only too happy to offer advice for anyone looking to get into Saltwater flyfishing around his area and is happy chasing either meter plus Kingfish or pan sized snapper in skinny water or even the underrated Parore. On this episode we talk about all that variety, in addition to tailing Snapper, flounder focused Kingfish and the questionable diet of Parore

Episode 63 - Mickey Finn

Episode 63- Redemption for Mickey Finn who short changed us last week but turned it on in a big way this week. Young Mickey is wise beyond his years, with more experience than most when it comes to a fresh and varied approach to flyfishing for Australian Trout. Mickey is based out of Tumut NSW and lives and breathes fishing. Mickey is part of the Aussie Fly Fisher clan and guides out of his purpose built float boat most of the year in the snowy mountain region. Although Micky does have a tendency to make up town names, you will still hear in this show that he knows what he is talking about inside and out. A great show from a standout flyfisher of his generation who does look a little like Ewen McGregor as Obi Wan Kenobi.
Also on this show, we turn up Votzy's Wide World of Sport and we also discuss leader material rotation. We also talk about the call of nature, that as early birds, we all have to deal with in a sometimes tasteful manner, but more often not.

Episode 62 - Weedguards

On this episode, we had an hour to arrange a show as the guest we had booked gave us an hours notice that they couldn't make it... these things happen but.... Mumma didn't raise no quitters here so we came up with as much verbosity as we could to bring you your Friday goodness.
This show ended up going a few ways. We chat about lost fish, comps, and then mainly about weedguards. We also get into a cracking Voltz'ys week in sport, as its been a crazy week in Australian Flyfishing... so many shoutouts.

Episode 61 - Dustin Huff

On this episode we are stoked to present Dustin Huff. Dustin is a multiple tournament winning guide based out of Marathon Florida and is a very big part of the lineage of Saltwater Flyfishing history. Dustin talks to us tonight about what he does in the way of guiding, in addition to his own fishing. We also chat about Dustin as young fella which gives an insight into what makes the man such a success today. Dustin reflects on his time fishing with Del Brown and with his more modern clients, Dustin also goes into a few mind blowing stories about what it took to achieve both the 4lb and 6lb IGFA Tarpon world records. This is a very entertaining podcast that was just as much an experience for Me and Voltz as I hope that it will be for you guys.

Episode 60 - Troy From Minn Repairs and Fly line selection special

On episode 60 of the Intermediate Line Podcast, we chat to Troy Whyte from Minn Repairs about what he does and the importance of a correct setup and maintenance of electric motors.
Also on this show the hosts barely get there with a fly line special that is designed to assist you with selecting a fly line. We attempt to cover a flow chat of sorts that may help you to use a process of elimination when considering a fly line to suit a new rod or a style of fishing.
We are spoilt for choice with flylines from a great selection of excellent manufacturers, yet selecting a flyline can sometimes be a gamble given most sources of information are from either random social media posts without credibility or people with financial interests embedded their advice. Hopefully you will see this as an unbiased look at simply how to select a line that is correct for you. Please enjoy the show.

Episode 59 - Dan Costelloe

This week on episode 59, we chat to Dan Costelloe. Dan is a Tasmanian who loves fishing both the western and lower lakes of Tasmania for some world class Trout fishing. We cover most of the dumb questions that 2 Queenslanders could ask about Trout fishing, in addition to understanding the the ins and outs of hiking into a very harsh part of Australia in search of untouched fishing. 
Also on this show, we lightly go into spring topwater fishing for both fresh and saltwater species. We cover rods, leaders and flies in a general fashion.
In the outro there is more of Voltzy's wide world of sports and we also talk about first aid procedures for marine stings.

Episode 58 - Lubin and Casey Pfeiffer ( The Full Scale Fishing Show)

Episode 58 - Lubin and Casey Pfeiffer are living the life that most people would only dram of. These guys travel the country to attend Fly Fishing tournaments and to create content for their YouTube channel called "The Full Scale Fishing Show". Right now, these South Australians are in Townsville as they make their way around QLD, sampling the best the state has to offer before heading back to Tasmania in the summer to compete in the fly fishing tournament circuit. On the show, we learn a little more about what the fly fishing competition circuit entails and what its provides for the sport. We also talk about the recent adventures they have undertaken that you can find on their You Tube channel.

Episode 57 - What a cracker!! We chat to Lucas Allen from King Tide Salt Fly who is based out of Tauranga, New Zealand. Look.... here is the deal. This show has some bad jokes, some cultural insensitivity, some talk of medical procedures and popular movie franchises... but, we do talk about the very strong and powerful Kingfish and the incredible shallow water fishery Lucas guides at. This fishery is definitely not new, but as a destination for hardcore flats fishermen... it's got to be one of the most underrated misunderstood fisheries going. We sincerely hope that this show opens your mind to the possibility of considering Kingfish as a bucket list skinny water fly target.
