Episode 132 - Dr Owen Li
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
Saturday Mar 26, 2022
On Episode 132, we are honoured to have Dr Owen Li on the show. Owen is a Doctor of Social Science specialising in recreational fishing activity. Owen joins us on the show today to discuss the wide spread shark problem that recreational commercial anglers have been experiencing in recent years. Owen is on of the main guys behind the info fish app called "Sharkd". This app is a free app that provides researchers like Owen valuable data on non desirable shark interactions so that this information can be studied by those that can effect policy and change. Many anglers complain about the shark problem yet are still not aware of the app, but will complain that nothing is being done about the problem. Owen and his team are offering a real solution to being heard, that may be the start of fixing the issue.
You can get Sharkd for any device where you normally get your apps.

Episode 131 - Mark ”Bargy” Bargenquast
Saturday Mar 12, 2022
Saturday Mar 12, 2022
On Episode 131 we have a very special show, a guy both of us have watched and admired for a long time, Mark Bargenquast. Mark or Bargy as he is known has been a saltwater guide for many years, starting his operation in Hervey Bay where his skill out shone a lot of the guiding available there at the time. Bargy also featured in Taz Jefferies film Black Torpedos where he caught the first Hervey Bay Permit caught on film, amongst the other iconic species that Hervey bay has to offer. Bargy recently took over the iconic saltwater guiding operation from Allan Philiskirk in Weipa known as Fish's Fly and Sportfishing. We chat to Bargy about his old stomping ground in Hervey Bay and reflect on the changes in the area over a lifetime. We also chat about his operation, hunting, his boats and some advice for those fishing with guides. Bargy is a guides guide, a well known personality and an all round top block who lives and works in what is arguably one of the worlds best Saltwater Flyfishing destinations in the world.

Episode 130 - Gian Booysen ( Kings To Be Found)e
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
Saturday Feb 26, 2022
On Episode 130 - We chat to Gian Booysen, a resident of New Zealand, a saltwater flyfishing guide and marine biologist. Spending the time with Gian made for a super interesting chat, sure we learned a little about the guy, but what was very interesting is that we spoke a lot about the prey on the flats just as much as we spoke about the kingfish up in the skinny water that hunt them. If you think NZ is all trout and Deepwater saltwater fishing, then you are missing out... think 1 meter long Kingfish, think crabs, think flats for miles, think of seeing your arbor knot, think every part of a flats fishing destination that has fish that will get the heart rat going so fast that you may never go to NZ for trout again !!
For a very special announcement about the show, please listen to the outro.

Episode 129 - Leroy Addison
Saturday Feb 19, 2022
Saturday Feb 19, 2022
On Episode 129- We talk to a young student of Fly fishing, Leroy Addison. Leroy is located near Melbourne Victoria, and is like most of us, realising that every day is a school day when it comes to Flyfishing. Transitioning from early beginnings of fishing for Trout in Tasmania and Victoria, Leroy is turning his recent attention to Australian natives and that delicious river meat known as Carp. We asked Leroy on to tell us about his sum of experiences in addition to how someone who has grown up with the influence of social media sifts through the smoke and mirrors to fine tune his results on the water. An interesting show that started off with no real direction that quickly took a few turns that would be of interest to anyone who is watching and tuning their interests through readily available information sources. Disclaimer .... Leroy knows that Goulburn River doesn't feed Eildon, he knows it's the other way around... it was just a brain fart that he wanted us to let you know about.

Episode 127 - Fleye Design Beef
Friday Feb 04, 2022
Friday Feb 04, 2022
On this episode, the gang flies solo into a long form chat that starts off by talking about a subject that is close to both hosts core interests, Surf Candy Fleyes for Tuna. The discussion goes into talking about the design of the fly and what performance is desired from the fly which then turns to discussion points about how to achieve those desired outcomes. As usual the the hosts display the attention span of a 6 year old and delve into alternative Tuna flies and the influence successful conventional gear has had on modern fly-fishing techniques seen only in recent years. The topic of more vlogs comes up, as does barramundi open season and the unexpected popularity of the follow the "Follow The Beef" slogan.

Episode 123 - Hate the Game Not The Player
Friday Dec 17, 2021
Friday Dec 17, 2021
On Episode 123, we tackle a few of the tough topics which are loosely centred around the term "Instafamous". Social media is not going away so we break down that term "Instafamous" and discuss openly what we think that means, also defining sponsorships, commercial agreements and how a simple misinterpretations might be contributing some toxicity towards negative comments online. We also talk about the responsibilities of those in a position of influence and some of the overwhelming positives that have come out of social media that are consumed, but often overlooked in comments. We also talk about our recent shift in show sponsor and what the means to us, and offer a full trip report that details Chris' latest excursion with one of Australia's best Flyfishing charter operators, Rod Collings from Australian Flyfishing Outfitters.

Yo Guess What
We know stuff and we don't put our rod over our shoulder.
Follow the beef people... Don't let someone who doesn't do the type of fishing they preach about waste your time or money.... reward those that show results not promises.
